Commander was one of the Mega Television Serial which began during 1992, while the Zee TV Channel was Launched. It was a Mega Serial Directed by Gautam Adhikari and was produced by Shri Adhikari Brothers Limited. The First Episode was Telecast during October-November 1992. The Leading Role was played by “Ramesh Bhatkar” as “Commander”. Rather that he had an Assistant named “Tony” whose role was played by Sharad Sharma, who too played an Excellent role in solving the Cases. After 103 episodes, he took a Break from the show then another Good Actor “Sudhir Mittoo” slipped into the Leading Role of Commander and the Serial was Termed as “Commander II”. He played the role for a 5 months (Oct 1994 to March 1995), after that Ramesh Bhatkar returned. The Serial ended during August 1995.
If we compare Ramesh Bhatkar & Sudhir Mittoo, we would find both were good in their own ways, both the actors had the positive approach to make themselves fir for the role. Nothing was mentioned about the personal Life of Commander, nor any First or Last name which never mattered in the Serial. It’s likely that Commander is between 35–45 years of age, like James Bond.
The episodes didn’t had any names. Most stories were two episodes long, few three while a few finished in one episode. Most of the Episodes were thrilling, mostly based upon Murder case and Kidnapping. Few of the episodes were Based upon Gang-fight and Moral Story as well. Zee TV has finally uploaded the show on its YouTube channel, though more than 60 episodes are still missing. Another Best thing about Commander was that it had an awesome Title Track during that era sang by Annie on the other side Shankar Mahadevan gave the vocals.
Season 1: Ramesh Bhatkar (episode number 1 to 104*).
Season 2: Sudhir Mittoo (episode number 104* to unknown; probably 15-25 episodes in total).
Season 3: Ramesh Bhatkar (until the final episode)
Episode 104 showed highlights of a few earlier episodes, followed by an introduction to the new Commander.
