Suraag-The Clue was one of the Mega Television Serial which began during the Late 90’s. The First Episode was Telecast on 14th June 1999 on Monday at 10pm. The Leading Role was played by “Sudesh Berry” as “Inspector Bharat”. He was perfectly Fit for the Role, Rather that he had an Assistant named Inspector Srivastava whose role was played by Amit Kapoor, too played an Excellent role in solving the Mysteries. It was a Mega Serial Directed by Gautam Adhikari and was produced by Shri Adhikari Brothers Limited who are now the Founder of SAB Groups.
It’s likely that Inspector Bharat is between 35–40 years of age, like James Bond. He lives by himself and is obviously single. A very little information was provided about his personal life. But in the First Episode we see Inspector Bharat getting out from a Car in Police Uniform and enters his House. That Day was 15th August which was eventually his Birthday as well. So he stood beside his Father Mr Ajay’s Garland photo to pay Tribute. His Father was a Policeman too and on the same Day during his Childhood while he was celebrating his Birthday, his Father was in Duty and lost his Life during an encounter with a Criminal. But he already send Bharat a Police Uniforms Gift through his Friend. While Bharat opens that and saw that, his desire Became to be an Honest Police Officer.
Inspector Bharat’s character is uncomplicated and powerful. He wasn’t a 6-pack Hero but seems to be real and grounded but Charismatic. He has a strong presence which tell us that he is not just another person in the crowd. Only in the First Episode he was dressed in Police Uniform, later he mostly dressed in suits, sometimes Casual and got into more hand-to-hand combats.
The episodes had no names, were all the Episodes used to Finish in 1 hour. Only one story Episode 14 (Cast: Navin Nischal, Sumeet Saigal) in Doordarshan was continued and got ended Next Week for the telecast of another program. Most of the Episodes were very Thrilling, while sometimes the Culprit does the killing assuming he hasn’t left any Clue behind, but finally falls into the Trap of Inspector Bharat. Rather that few Episodes were based upon Gang-war. While in 2 episodes, Sudesh Berry’s Double Role was shown with fantastic thrilling Storyline, whose name was Simmon. At the end of every story, Inspector Bharat used to describe a Moral Quotes on the Context of the Entire Circumstances.
Initially only a Few Episodes were uploaded on YouTube channel, but while it was Re-Telecast in Dabang during September 2022 to April 2023, few uploaders uploaded maximum episodes in their Respective Channels. Later from January 2023 “SAB Network Crimeworld” which is the Official Youtube Channel of SAB Group has uploaded all the Episodes missing out only 2. The Title track of the series was different in the Beginning but later is the modified version of “Smoke on the Water” a song by British rock band Deep Purple.
Suddenly on 4th November 2002, the Series got ended, a new series “CID Officer” was aired from 11th November 2002 on the same time, which too was a Series of SAB Groups. Initially Late Narendra Jha Played the Leading Role, but later Sudesh Berry Replaced him in a Dramatic Episode. It was described by the media as “unofficial extension” of the Suraag.
